The Minnesota Wild outplayed the New York Rangers last night in Saint Paul to earn the 3-2 victory. The Blueshirts were minus Marian Gaborik again as well as Sean Avery and Christopher Higgins. They called up Dane Byers from the Hartford Wolf Pack whom arrived 20 minutes before the puck dropped and scored his first NHL goal and first for the Rangers at 5:33 in the 2nd period. Wade Redden made a good play on the assist to Byers. Marc Staal scored the Rangers second goal at 5:01 in the 3rd period. Vinny Prospal made another nice play on the assist. Prospal deserves to wear the A on his jersey as the second alternate captain. Along with Prospal, Ales Kotalik has also been consistent so far this season. The Rangers did not get enough quality shots on Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom whom is one of the best goalies in the NHL. The Ranger power play hasn’t been crisp and they miss Gaborik big time. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 29 of 32 shots including 3 of 3 on the penalty kill.
