Cardinals Defeat Giants 24-17 at Meadowlands Sunday Night as 1986 Giants Were Present for Pregame Introductions

I attended the game with my friend and his son Sunday Night at Giants Stadium. It was great watching all the old 1986 Giants being introduced in front of us before the game. Seeing Captain Harry Carson, Billy Ard ("Let Ard Be Our Guard"), Little Joe Morris, Gary Reasons and of course, Lawrence Taylor was great. Phil Simms could not make it but taped a video hello that was played on the Jumbotron. They showed clips from old games from that era on the Jumbotron during TV timeouts. I loved seeing the Giants wear white at home vs. their rival Dallas Cowboys who were forced to wear their blue jerseys for bad luck. Unfortunately this night didn’t go as well for Eli Manning and Big Blue’s offense. It seemed that Eli was on a different page each time he threw downfield or towards the sideline. More then once Steve Smith ran an up when Eli threw an out. There was no wind and it was a perfect night for football in late October. Manning was 19 of 37 for 243 yards and 3 interceptions. It should have been 4 but Hakeem Nicks streaked across the field and caught a tipped Manning pass then sprinted into the end zone for a 62 yard touchdown play. Brandon Jacobs ran one in and looked good doing so, the Jacobs of last season. He ended the game with 13 carries for 76 yards with 1 touchdown. Ahmad Bradshaw was unimpressive, 12 carries for only 32 yards. The offense didn’t stay on the field long enough to keep the potent Cardinal offense off the field. Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower each had a touchdown. Larry Fitzgerald was kept in check for a lot of the game but finished with 6 catches for 83 yards. Anquan Boldin hobbled around but had 3 catches for 75 yards. Boldin was wide open in the right corner of the end zone in the 2nd quarter but Kurt Warner threw a pass towards Fitzgerald that was broken up. The Giants had a chance late in the game to tie it and go into overtime but Manning was picked off for the 3rd time. Kurt Warner went 20 of 36 for 231 yards and 1 touchdown. He didn’t play that well when we was a Giant! The Giants travel to their divsion rival Eagles Sunday.
