Ryan Callahan has been alternate captain by John Tortorella today. The second alternate’s not been named and will need to be earned in the coach’s eyes. Callahan, who deserves it big time, will wear the A on his sweater in the opener tonight against hated Pittsburgh Penguins and their Diving Captain Sidney (aka Cindy) Crosby. Tortorella will have his team watch the Stanley Cup Champions banner raising ceremony out of respect to the NHL and the Stanley Cup. I think that’s a good move for him and for the young Ranger players to see. It should be a good one.
