The Somerset Patriots defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs last night 8-2 in Game 1 of the Atlantic League Championship Series. It was a terrific game to attend but the temperature dipped down to around 40 degrees and got pretty chilly. Pitcher Jim Magrane earned the win as he gave up only 2 earned runs on 5 hits with 7 strikeouts in 7.0 innings. The Patriots batted around in the bottom of the 3rd to take the early 5-0 lead and they didn’t look back. Game 2 of the Series is scheduled for tonight at 7:05 PM at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, NJ. Postgame fireworks are on tap and I hope the weather cooperates. The game may be rained out and if so will be most likely be rescheduled for tomorrow.
