The Rangers played a complete game to defeat the Senators at home 5-2 Saturday night. My Wife and I were glad we went to see the new look Blueshirts. The #1 line of Prospal-Dubinsky-Gaborik is the real deal so far this season. Each scored Saturday with Dubi adding two goals. Tortorella preaches puck control and pressure and that’s what they did. They did not lose the game in the neutral zone as they had the past couple of years. Michael Del Zotto scored the first goal of his NHL career and was overjoyed. They showed his family and Mom crying as we roared in appreciation. My Wife noticed that the defensemen were in the right places in front of Henrik and that made the difference in the game. The King was awesome stopping seemingly everything especially in the second period. Henrik had 32 saves on the night but gave up a soft goal with less then 6 seconds left in the game. Torts was not thrilled as he wants the team to focus completely for 60 minutes. Late in the 2nd period the Senators shot the puck into the corner to Henrik’s right. Gilroy was coming down to defend against Jason Spezza as he streaked down the ice. Gilroy played the man instead of the puck. Spezza beat him to the corner and made a perfect pass to Daniel Alfredsson in the low slot and he snapped it into the net. It was a very good overall game for the Blueshirts.
