The Somerset Patriots took the best of five Atlantic League Championship series 3-1 on Sunday with back to back Championships. Thank goodness we’ve had baseball to cheer for this summer. The Patriots split the first two home games and took the next two on the road in Southern Maryland. Patriots’ third baseman Jeff Nettles won the Championship Series MVP, batting .281 with 9 runs, 3 homeruns and 7 RBIs. This is the second time he won the award in six seasons with the Patriots. Nettles is the son of New York Yankees All-Star third baseman Graig Nettles who wears his father’s number 9 and also plays third. They are managed by former Yankee All-Star closer Sparky Lyle.
