Former Giant WR Plaxico Burress is the third inductee into my Hall of Shame. In November 2008 Burress was at the Latin Quarter nightclub in Manhattan with New York Giants teammate LB Antonio Pierce for a night out on the town. The night out was cut short as Burress’ unlicensed handgun slid out of the waistband in his sweats. He managed to shoot and would himself in the leg. His license to carry a concealed weapon in the state of Florida expired in May 2008 and he didn’t have a license to do so in New York State! Burress accepted a two-year prison sentence in a plea bargain for criminal possession of a weapon. The Giants released Burress in April 2009 and has not singed with a new team. Maybe the Eagles will sign him and Vick can throw him the ball! The bullet just missed a security guard at the club. Ricochets are a major concern and Burress is very lucky nobody was seriously hurt. Burress saw blood on his Chuck Taylor All-Stars and knew he shot himself. Pierce took him to the hospital and helped cover up the whole thing. Burress said he used “bad judgment” in not carrying a holster! How about not carrying an unlicensed firearm and having it loaded with no safety engaged in the first place! What a dope.
