St. John’s Red Storm Defeat DePaul Blue Demons 67-47 at Carnesecca Arena Sunday for Second Big East Victory

The Red Storm defeated the Blue Demons soundly Sunday by 20 (67-47) at Carnesecca Arena in Queens, NY before a nice crowd of 4,317.
Head Coach Norm Roberts on the St. John’s victory:

"Our guys played hard defensively. We played with good energy, moved our feet well and played good ball screen defense," said Roberts. "We have persevered and stayed tough after a few losses. These guys are juniors now and they understand that we have to try to keep good weeks going. They understand that they have to have a hunger to keep winning."
The Red Storm shot well from the field (25-for-54, 46.3 percent). Their team shooting has been their biggest issue of the past few years and it is nice seeing such a good effort. Their defense held the Blue Demons to only 32.0 percent from the field (16-for-50). Norm Roberts played his bench and two Johnnies off the bench led the team scoring: Justin Burrell with 11 points and Justin Brownlee with 10. The Red Storm visit the XL Center in Hartford for a game against UConn on Wednesday, 7:00 PM. The game will be televised on SNY.
