Omar Minaya (aka Nomore Goodbya) Struck Out on Signing Free Agents

The New York Mets GM Omar Minaya (aka Nomore Goodbya) struck out this offseason on signing free agents. He said “We have a plan”, but I believe he doesn’t have a clue. I think he’s playing all the Met fans for suckers again and trying to pull the wool over our eyes. I’d rather him say nothing and go about trying to assemble a team. Here’s a shortlist free agents they had no intention of signing but claimed to:
  • SP Jon Garland – would have been a good fit
  • SP John Smoltz – please God no. He would be this years El Duque
  • SP Ben Sheets – injury waiting to happen, glad they didn't
  • SP John Lackey – would have been a good fit
  • SP Joel Piniero – not a fan
  • C Bengie Molina – he took less money for one season to resign with Giants! Will be 36 in July
They better not sign Johnny Damon.
