The New York Mets GM Omar Minaya (aka Nomore Goodbya) struck out this offseason on signing free agents. He said “We have a plan”, but I believe he doesn’t have a clue. I think he’s playing all the Met fans for suckers again and trying to pull the wool over our eyes. I’d rather him say nothing and go about trying to assemble a team. Here’s a shortlist free agents they had no intention of signing but claimed to: - SP Jon Garland – would have been a good fit
- SP John Smoltz – please God no. He would be this years El Duque
- SP Ben Sheets – injury waiting to happen, glad they didn't
- SP John Lackey – would have been a good fit
- SP Joel Piniero – not a fan
- C Bengie Molina – he took less money for one season to resign with Giants! Will be 36 in July
They better not sign Johnny Damon.
