St. John’s Red Storm Defeat Cincinnati Bearcats 52-50 at Garden Wednesday for First Big East Victory

The Red Storm defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats 52-50 at the Garden Wednesday night to go 1-3 in the Big East and 11-5 on the season. It’s good seeing Anthony Mason, Jr. back on the court. St. John's forced 21 turnovers, tying a season-best, and scored 20 points off turnovers in the game. The Red Storm had a season-high 39 bench points. The bench is averaging 26.9 points per game on the year. Dwight Hardy was 4-for-4 from the free throw in the final eight seconds of the game. After tying the game at 50-50 with a pair of free throws, Hardy drained two more to seal the victory. Hardy finished with a game-high 19 points on the night, tying a career-high. Hardy was 3-for-5 from long range in the game and has made at least three 3's in six games this year. The junior is shooting 45.2 percent (19-of-42) from distance in the past six games. Attendance at the Garden was just over 7,000. That’s a lot better then it’s been in recent home games in the World’s Most Famous Arena.
