Santana Excellent in 3-0 Complete Game Shut Out Over Reds – Hits First Career Home Run at Citi Field Tuesday

Met starting pitcher Johan Santana was excellent last night as he pitched like the ace he is in a 3-0 complete game win over the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field. Santana gave up no earned runs, only 3 hits, with 5 strikeouts in 9.0 innings. It was great seeing Santana pitch so well after losing three of his last four decisions for the Mets. Santana said he’s throwing his fastball much better which is the key to his success. Johan helped his cause by hitting the first home run of his career in the third inning, a solo shot that hit the right field foul pole. Santana threw 113 pitches with 78 for strikes in the win. Jose Reyes had another 2-hit night. Jason Bay continued to hit well adding 2 RBIs and Angel Pagan stole his 16th base of the season. The Mets host the Reds tonight at Citi Field in the last game of their 3-game series.
