Mets Lost 8-4 Saturday and Won 4-3 in 10 Innings Sunday against the Giants to Avoid Sweep

The New York Mets were down 6-0 last night at San Francisco due to the horrific start by Met Hisanori Takahashi who gave up 6 earned runs, 7 hits with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts in 2.2 innings! The Mets managed to get 2 runs in the 7th inning but Raul Valdes gave them back 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. New York managed one more run in the 8th and 9th innings but came up short 8-4 and wasted two home runs by first baseman rookie Ike Davis. Today Ike Davis was again the man as he went 3-for-5 (2 doubles) with 2 RBIs including driving in Jason Bay for the go ahead run in the 10th inning after Francisco Rodriguez blew the save in the bottom of the 9th. Johan Santana was great today giving up only 1 earned run, 8 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts in 8.0 innings for the no decision. K-Rod blew the save, but earned the win in the 10th! That’s a crime and Johan needs some wins sometime soon. With the win the Mets avoided the sweep of the four game series.
