Mets Brutal on Road Trip with 1-and-5 Record Thus Far and Counting

I learned many years ago that if I didn’t have anything nice to say then not to say anything. However, I’m about to make an exception. The Mets are 1-and-5 in their last six games they’ve played thus far on this road trip. Without the horrific call by the plate ump at San Francisco they’d be 0-and-6. I posted last week that they need to play at least .500 baseball on the road and take 2-of-3 at home and they would have an excellent shot at the National League Wildcard. I was hoping for a 6-and-5 record on this trip. As it stands now that may be a distant dream. They have also dropped 9 of their last 13 games and the offense has completely disappeared. I saw Carlos Beltran sitting on the far end of the bench last night. That is where the rookies or the kids they bring up when they expand the rosters in September sit, not an All-Star. The Mets’ schedule doesn’t get any easier in the coming weeks. There’s still a chance to get back on track but they can’t wait any longer. A new stud pitcher is needed before the trade deadline and the offense has to return. Even poor Mr. Met is saddened by the state of the team.

  1. wish beltran would get a few hits so they can trade him and let pagan play full time.
i agree they need an arm - and need it now. i dont care how Ollie did last night with 2men on - guy is crazier than daffy duck - and the duck was more predictable.

  2. I believe they played Beltran at the end of last season to show the world he could still play. I would love to have him go, but who would want his ridiculous contract at this point? Ollie Perez absolutely sucks. I wish they'd buy out his contract and be done with it like the Yankees do.
