Mets Lost to Braves 4-2 at Citi Field Friday and Lost 9 of Last 15 Games – Need to Get Back to Winning Ways Against East Division Leaders

The New York Mets have not been playing winning baseball in their last 15 games, losing 9 in that stretch. The starting pitching and lack of timely hitting has been the story. The Mets were three games behind the East Division leading Atlanta Braves going into the game last night which makes the 4-2 loss hurt even more. Last night R.A Dickey was pitching well giving up 2 runs, only 1 earned into the 7th inning. With two outs Dickey gave up back-to-back home runs that gave Atlanta the 4-2 lead. The Mets could not come back from the 2-run deficit and watching ex-Met Billy Wagner mow them down in the 9th inning for his 20th save was not fun. Josh Thole got the start behind the plate for the Mets and went 1-for-3. Angel Pagan and R.A. Dickey each had 2-hits in the loss. The Mets were only 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and have to be a lot better than that to beat the Braves. The Mets host the Braves in a 4:10 PM matinee at Citi Field where Mike Pelfrey will go for his 11th win of the season.
