The Rangers lost in a shootout at the Rock last night 3-2. Seven among the 50 players in camp also played the first game Tuesday. I absolutely loved Matt Gilroy. The Rangers were down 2-0 in the 3rd period when Gilroy went full steam to the net and beat Danis. It was an amazing play. Owens got his first goal of preseason to tie it at 2-2. P.A. Parenteau was slammed into the net behind Danis but got out just before the goal was scored. That would have been the second goalie interference called on the Blueshirts. Avery was called for goaltender interference on a joke of a call late in the 1st period. He was yapping on the way to the penalty box and the refs called unsportsmanlike conduct to make it a 4 minute double minor. It looks like the bulls-eye on Avery's back is shining brightly. Wait until Marty's in goal. The Devils won the shootout in the 6th round. Henrik Lundqvist played the first half of the game up until the second TV timeout in the 2nd period stopping 16 of 17 shots. He looked especially good during the 4 minute penalty kill late in the 1st and early into the 2nd period, giving up only 1 goal to Clarkson. Johnson replaced him and played extremely well. An early goal to Clarkson once again and that was it. Johnson was psyched playing the shootout against the likes of future Hall of Famer Brendan Shanahan whom missed. Voros can't keep picking fights, he stinks at it. His face will look like it went through a ricer if he keeps it up.
