The Mets lost 4-2 last night in Philadelpia in the light rain. The Mets wore their red hats in honor of September 11th, the same they wore on Memorial Day at home. Too much Cole Hamels, giving up only 1 earned run, on 7 hits, 1 walk with 6 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings for the win. Nelson Figueroa pitched well enough to win but once again there was no run support, giving up only 2 earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. I'd like to see Beltran play again but most likely will sit again due to the rain. Jeff Francoeur had a third of the Met total hits going 3 for 4 with 1 double. David Wright does not come through in the clutch again with runners on base, leaving 3. Dessens and Stokes each gave up a run in the loss.
"You look up and down the bench and you have to say to yourself, 'Can't anybody here play this game?' There comes a time in every man's life and I've had plenty of them."
