The 2009 US Open has ended for Melanie Oudin, the 17-year-old from Georgia. Melanie ran into 19-year-old Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark and lost the match in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Both women were first time Grand Slam quarterfinalists. Unfortunately for Melanie her forehand was no match for Wozniacki and was run ragged all over the court. Wozniacki needed only nine minutes to go up 3-0 in the first set and breezed the rest of the way.
Oudin, clearly flustered, let it show in her face and play. The Dane was simply no match, so to speak. Oudin committed 42 unforced errors and it's virtually impossible to come back from that. Her tremendous run has ended but it's just the beginning for Melanie and a bright spot for American Woman's tennis.
