A friend and I attended the game yesterday between the Devils and Rangers minor teams at the Rock in Newark. The Devils wore the NJ Devils red home jerseys while the Wolf Pack wore the Rangers white away jerseys. Most of the better prospects are with the big clubs in training camp. In the 1st period the Devils manhandled the Wolf Pack up and down the ice. The second period the Wolf Pack started forechecking and backchecking in an attempt to make a game out of it. The 3rd period saw the Wolf Pack and Devils take more then a few dumb penalties. With 36 seconds left the Wolf Pack scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game at 3-3. Nobody scored in the 5 minute overtime. In the shootout each team had 5 guys shooting vs. 3 in the NHL. I like that format better. The Wolf Pack won the shootout 3-2 on their last shot and won the game 4-3. The two teams play for real at the Rock 01/06/10 and 02/03/10.
