The Rutgers Scarlet Knights defeated FIU 19-14 on Saturday to go 2-0 on the season but they didn’t play well offensively. It was all special teams, specifically safety Joe Lefeged who forced 2 fumbles, had 1 interception and blocked two punts. FIU outgained the Scarlet Knights 371-172 yards as Rutgers quarterback Tom Savage was ineffective. Mohamed Sanu came to help Rutgers score their two touchdowns. The game came down to the Rutger’s defense forcing 5 turnovers. Without those turnovers and the unreal play by Lefeged the Scarlet Knights may have lost. Rutgers has a bye week upcoming then travel to North Carolina for a very tough matchup.
