The New York Mets continue to lose rubber games of 3-game series against National League teams and just play poor baseball. The shame of it is that not that long ago they were eleven games over .500 and the possibility of a Wild Card Playoff spot looked real. The Mets released Alex Cora and recalled Fernando Martinez and Ruben Tejada from Triple-A Buffalo. Cora was hitting .207 in limited at-bats but that wasn’t cutting it. Playing Tejada at second base and getting Martinez back to the Majors was important. Something needs to be done with Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo who are occupying roster spots and not earning it. They are not contributing to the team. It’s such a shame that the team’s season has been slipping away.
