Mets Won 5-4 Again on Blanco’s Walk Off Homer in 11 Innings at Citi Field Saturday

The New York Mets won on another walk off home run by their catcher once again, but this time it was Henry Blanco who came through in the bottom of the 11th inning. Starting pitcher Johan Santana gave up 4 earned runs, 8 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts in 7.2 innings. The combination of Nieve, Feliciano, Mejia, Rodriguez and Takahashi pitched the rest of the way through 11 innings masterfully. Takahashi earned the win. Blanco went 3-for-5, with 1 run and 1 RBI. Citi Field was a wind tunnel for most of the afternoon and the fans weren’t disappointed with the walk off homer served up by ex-Met and now Giant Mota. Somehow Mota’s managed to pitch better in the recent seasons then he had in years past. This was a critical win for the Mets who will face Tim Lincecum of the Giants on Sunday afternoon who’s been one of the best pitchers in the Major Leagues.
