Mets Come From Behind with 6 Runs in the 8th Inning to Defeat Nationals 8-6 at Citi Field Tuesday

The New York Mets did something they haven’t done all season: they came back to win a game while being down after the 7th inning. The Mets exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th to take the game 8-6 and give the team a much needed lift in the process. Chris Carter doubled into the right field corner while pinch hitting in the 8th. The middle of the order came through with David Wright and Jason Bay each getting 3 hits. Starting pitcher Jon Niese was shelled last night giving up 6 earned runs in 4.1 innings. Niese has been roughed up his last two outings. The bullpen was outstanding again and Francisco Rodriguez earned his 5th save in the process. Jose Reyes went 0-for-4 and is hitting .230 on the year. All I can hope for is that they move him back to the top of the order and he gets in gear. The Mets play a day game today with rainy skies and cool temperatures on tap.
