End of an Era as IZOD Center Hosts Final Nets Game Monday

The New Jersey Nets lost their final home game of the season and final game ever to be played at the IZOD Center last night 105-95 to the Charlotte Bobcats. The Nets have had an awful season with only 12 wins and 69 losses with 1 road game remaining in Miami. The arena was originally named the Brendan Byrne Arena in 1981, renamed to Continental Airlines Arena then to the IZOD Center. Larry Brown coached the Nets in their first game at Brendan Byrne Arena in a loss to the New York Knicks and ironically Brown is coaching the Charlotte Bobcats now. The Nets will play their next two seasons at the Prudential Center in Newark before their planned relocation to Brooklyn, New York City. The New Jersey Devils played at the arena from 1982-83 through 2006-07 before their relocation the Prudential Center. The Devils won 3 Stanley Cups in their tenure at the arena.
