Rutgers Scarlet Knights Defeated St. John’s Red Storm 84-72 Tuesday at RAC in Piscataway

The Red Storm lost to a red hot Mike Rosario who had a career-high 33 points for the Scarlet Knights as they win over St. John’s 84-72 at the RAC. Rosario was hitting everything in the first half and started to cool off in the second. Rosario scored 21 of his points in the first half. The Red Storm lost its fourth straight game and goes 12-9, 2-7 on the season. D.J. Kennedy had a great game for the Johnnies finishing with his career-high 27 points with 9 rebounds. He nailed five 3-pointers. Sean Evans had 11 points and 9 rebounds, 6 on the offensive glass. The Red Storm shot only 33% from the field in the first half and simply couldn’t convert. They also had to contend with Rutgers center Hamady Ndiaye who finished with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting, 5-of-6 from the free throw line and 9 huge blocks. He reminded me of Patrick Ewing when he played at Georgetown. The Johnnies cut the Scarlet Knight lead to 6 late in the 2nd half but came up short. I was planning on going to this game but decided to watch on TV instead. The RAC is very loud but last night the crowd seemed subdued. The Red Storm play another Big East Conference game as they host #6 West Virginia this Saturday at Madison Square Garden for a noon matinee.
