Carlos Beltran was hitting line drives all over the field last week at the Mets’ Port St. Lucie facility but the pitches were thrown to him underhanded. He is wearing a brace on his right knee to reduce the pain as he rehabs but still hasn’t started running. The thing is that running is the name of the game when playing center field and stealing bases. I’m hoping he’ll return but even if he does how long will it take him to get in top form? The likelihood of Beltran returning to All-Star form anytime soon is slipping away, again. He’s making $19 million this season guaranteed by the way.
