As you may know the New Jersey Devils are without a coach again and Lou’s list will certainly include the Lowell Devils (AHL affiliate) head coach John MacLean. MacLean was a longtime Devil playing 14 seasons with the team. MacLean also played 1 season with the San Jose Sharks, 2 seasons across the river with the New York Rangers and 2 with the Dallas Stars in an excellent NHL career. He was also an assistant coach with New Jersey for 6 seasons before taking over as head coach of Lowell last year. MacLean makes the most sense to me as he can walk into the job and Lou knows him very well. Scott Stevens and Mario Tremblay are also possibilities that are already in the Devil organization. I think MacLean as head coach with Stevens or Stevens & Tremblay as assistants would work well. The team needs consistency in coaching and this may just fit the bill.
