The New York Red Bulls had a tough match last night at the hands of the Seattle Sounders and lost 1-0. The first 10 minutes was especially rough. It was a tough battle but New York did not gel and could not bring the ball across midfield. The game was played quite often in the Red Bull’s end of the field and they unfortunately missed on a few golden opportunities to score. Goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul was caught out of position as well and scared me a bit. Late in the 1st half the ball was struck just to the left of the Red Bull goal and went wide right. Bouna’s still having trouble with goal kicks and Tim Ream stayed back later in 2nd half to take them. I was watching and hoping for a 0-0 draw when the inevitable happened: hated Fredy Montero, who came in off the bench, scored in the 86th minute. That goal gave the Sounders the 1-0 lead and the match. With 5 minutes of stoppage time after regulation I’d hope the Red Bulls would've kicked downfield and applied pressure to tie the match but they couldn’t get on the scoreboard. The picture was taken from our seats at Red Bull Arena.
