The story of the game was that the Mets once again wasted an excellent outing by their ace Johan Santana who only gave up 2 earned runs, 5 hits (HR), with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. In addition David Wright (aka K-Rite) lived up to his new nickname with 3 strikeouts. K-Rite also threw the game away in the bottom of the 9th with a terrible throwing error that allowed the runner on 2nd to come all the way around and score. That’s a play he’d make 98 times out of 100 a couple of years ago. I said his offensive woes would affect his defense and this is proof. He needs a rest and everyone else on the team needs to step up and score some runs.
