Team Canada defeated Team USA in Women’s Ice Hockey 2-0 yesterday to win the Gold Medal in front of their home crowd in Vancouver. The “Go Canada Go” chants were loud and clear throughout the game. Both teams played conservatively in the 1st period, not wanting to make the first mistake. Team Canada went with their young goalie who came into the game with an unreal 0.50 goals against average. Poulin of Team Canada scored both goals in the 1st period. Team USA’s power play was ineffective but their penalty kill was excellent. The hitting and dirty play started in the 2nd period and continued for the rest of the game. The linesman missed about 19 or more offsides where Team Canada clearly brought the puck in across the blue line with a player already in the zone by at least 2 or more feet. NBC didn't miss the opportunity to show Team USA players crying on the ice afterwards. They played their hearts out and took needed chances, to the dismay of dopey Pierre McGuire. This knucklehead was questioning the pinching in of Team USA’s defensemen with less then 12:00 minutes left in the 3rd period. Note to Dopey: they were down 2 goals and needed to take chances and score. Watching the Team USA Women was great, even with this dope between the benches. I wonder how much trouble Team Canada will get in for drinking and smoking cigars on the ice after the game? Nice, the kind of stuff you will be telling your kids about in future years, eh.
