St. John’s blew out Louisville last night at the Garden 74-55 last night at the Garden. The Red Storm go 13-10, 3-8 Big East on the year. This was a huge and needed win in the Big East for the Johnnies. D. J. Kennedy led the way with 15 points on the night and my favorite player Justin Burrell scored 14 with 8 rebounds. Louisville coach coach Rick Pitino said it was the Cardinals worst loss of the year but gave all the credit to St. John’s tight defense. St. John’s played a complete game for 40 minutes which made the difference. In the 2nd half they shot 14-of-24 (58.3%) from the field and 13-of-16 (81.3%) from the free throw line. This was the first game in a while where the Red Storm did not fade in the 2nd half. It was a great win over a Louisville team that was ranked #37 in the nation and especially with members of the 1984-85 Redmen in attendance.
